Lyrics by Zimmy Dandy

A world built on honour, when lies are spoken
Will surely fall, and Odin’s word is broken
It’s not the first, for Fenris was deceived
When he was bound, the gods’ lie he believed

And Loki now is punished for his sin
Though it be against the word of Odin
The cock of Asgard crows to the hawk of Hel
The earth cracks open, hear the tolling bell

It’s the Day of Wrath
It’s here, it’s Ragnarök
Götterdämmerung
The Twilight of the Gods

All fetters break, the Wolf is bound no more
The champions of Valhalla mass for war
For trolls and jotuns march against Asgard
Odin leads the gods to fight them hard

With steps enormous, Thor falls on his foes
And fells a hundred with fierce hammer blows
But now the Midgard’s Serpent crawls up on land
His brother Fenris too is close at hand

It’s the Day of Wrath
It’s here, it’s Ragnarök
Götterdämmerung
The Twilight of the Gods

Out of the north the Nagelfar swiftly sails
Its hull made out of dead men’s fingernails
And at the rudder Loki grimly stands
He seeks revenge and soon will have his chance

The deaf’ning roar of death splits ope the sky
And from the gap comes ruler of Muspelheim
His name is Surt, soot-black, with flaming sword
Behind him surges his vast demonic horde

It’s the Day of Wrath
It’s here, it’s Ragnarök
Götterdämmerung
The Twilight of the Gods

The Aesir clash with jotuns, trolls, and ghosts
Who now are joined by Surt’s great fiery host
Odin charges at Fenris’ gaping maw
But then is swallowed by the monstrous jaws

Thor pounds the Serpent till it meets its death
And then collapses, killed by its poison breath
Heimdall and Loki too pass from this life
Pierced by each other’s blades, they end their strife

It’s the Day of Wrath
It’s here, it’s Ragnarök
Götterdämmerung
The Twilight of the Gods

The war now ends, Yggdrasil is destroyed
Nidhogg the dragon rises up from the void
Then sinks back down, the world begins again
Mankind goes on, though pagan gods be slain

But on stormy nights, if you look to the sky
You will see a host of wild phantoms ride
Illumined by the lightning, and in their lead
Is One who rides upon an eight-legged steed
